Special Education Teacher Case Manager

We are seeking a Special Education Teacher Case Manager who focuses on writing transition plans for students with exceptionalities and coordinates transition planning for the Special Education team so that we further ReNEW’s mission of providing a rigorous, college preparatory education for our students from birth to 12th grade. The candidate for this position will specifically be writing transition plans for students in 8th grade to transition to high school.

The candidate for this position will spend 50% of their day pushing into classrooms and 50% of their day pulling students out of the classroom to provide services.

Strong behavior intervention experience preferred.

A ReNEW Special Education Teacher Case Manager guides the organization’s academic program by providing leaders and teachers with resources leading to a complete, rigorous comprehensive curriculum. This enables school teams to fulfill ReNEW Schools’ mission to transform existing academically unacceptable PK-12 schools into rigorous, college preparatory schools.  


The position is part of the school-based team and reports to school leader and Special Education Coordinator.


At ReNEW Schools, we expect our Special Education Teacher Case Manager to:


    Analyzes student cases in collaboration with Special Education Coordinator to ensure students are assessed in all areas of suspected disabilities and evaluation information is translated into practical teaching and learning strategies.


    Collaborates with general educators to provide specialized instruction, technical expertise, and the supplementary aides and resources in support of successful student access to the general education curriculum.


    Schedules and convenes Annual and requested IEP Review meetings and administers/collects PLOPs testing to ensure ongoing progress monitoring and IEP goal development based on current quantitative data.


    Updates and monitors a comprehensive data tracking system in collaboration with Special Education Coordinators that results in effective and ongoing decision-making about individual student program adjustments.


    Promotes metacognitive skill acquisition and student self-efficacy.


    Ensures integrated service delivery through collaboration with clinical providers and literacy specialists.


    Encourages positive family and community partnerships.


    Collaborates with Special Education Coordinators to maintain case compliance.


    Create thoughtful transition plans that meet students where they are and develop them toward dignified life outcomes.

Experience –  Experience effectively leading, managing, and coaching adults.  History of success working with and propelling success with students with exceptionalities preferred.  Ability to internalize feedback and prioritize least dangerous assumption required.


Education –  Certification in or in current pursuit of Certification in Special Education required, Bachelor´s degree required, Master's degree preferred.
